Pakistani television host and actress Nida Yasir has once again come under fire on social media after her condolence message for the late child star Umer Shah sparked criticism.

Umer Shah, the younger brother of viral sensation Ahmad Shah, rose to fame through ARY’s Ramzan transmission Shan-e-Ramzan. He passed away suddenly on September 15, leaving fans and colleagues in deep shock. His sudden demise was mourned widely, as the young star had long been a beloved part of ARY Digital’s special transmissions.

A day later, Nida Yasir began her show Good Morning Pakistan—which coincided with ARY Media Group’s 25th anniversary—by paying tribute to Umer. However, her condolence segment drew harsh reactions online. Viewers objected to her festive outfit, which they felt appeared inappropriate for the occasion, and many accused her of prioritising ratings over genuine grief.

The host later dedicated her September 19 show entirely to remembering Umer Shah, with anchor Wasim Badami and other guests joining in prayers for the departed soul. Yet, critics on social media dismissed the gesture as a publicity move aimed at boosting viewership.

Earlier, TV host Waseem Badami explained the cause of death. He said Umer vomited at night and the fluid entered his lungs. This blocked his oxygen supply and led to cardiac arrest. The explanation deepened the sadness, as many had hoped his illness was minor.

Celebrities expressed heartbreak. Adnan Siddiqui shared a photo with Umer and called him a symbol of light and innocence. Ejaz Aslam remembered him as a little angel who spread joy on Jeeto Pakistan. Mahira Khan and Momal Sheikh were also devastated. Morning show host Nida Yasir posted a picture with Umer and prayed for his forgiveness.
