Jaipur, September 21, 2025 The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has released a new update regarding the monsoon situation in Rajasthan. While the monsoon has retreated from more than half of the state, rainfall activities continue in the southern districts. A yellow alert has been issued for light to moderate rain in Banswara, Chittorgarh, Dungarpur, Pratapgarh, Rajsamand, Sirohi, Udaipur, and Salumber. This alert is effective today, September 21, and tomorrow, September 22.
As of 8 AM today, Jaipur recorded a temperature of 28 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature is expected to reach 34 degrees Celsius, while the minimum is forecasted at 25 degrees Celsius. There has been a 1-degree increase in the maximum temperature and a 1-degree decrease in the minimum temperature.
In the past 24 hours, the highest rainfall of 74 mm was recorded in Badi Sadri, Chittorgarh. Light drizzles accompanied by thunder were observed in parts of Jaipur, Kota, Ajmer, and Udaipur divisions in the afternoon.
For the next 5-6 days, most areas in western Rajasthan are expected to remain predominantly dry. However, light rain may still occur in the southern districts.
This monsoon season has seen rainfall in Rajasthan exceeding the average by 67%. From June 1 to September 18, a total of 704 mm of rain was recorded, compared to the average of 422.3 mm for this period. While this exceptional rainfall has benefited farmers, some areas, like Sikar, have experienced crop damage due to heavy rains. Farmers in Sikar have been compelled to use tractors on standing crops and are now seeking compensation from the government.
According to the weather department, the monsoon is expected to completely withdraw from Rajasthan by September 25. Before that, a new weather system may become active within the next 72 hours, potentially bringing heavy rainfall to the southern districts. A yellow alert has been issued for nine districts, including Banswara, Chittorgarh, Dungarpur, Pratapgarh, Rajsamand, Sirohi, Udaipur, Salumber, and Jalore.
With the monsoon's departure, temperatures in western Rajasthan are beginning to rise. Despite a drop in nighttime temperatures, daytime heat is expected to increase. The weather department has warned of rising temperatures along with dry weather in the coming days.
For Farmers: Monitor the condition of crops and contact local authorities in case of damage.
For the General Public: Given the possibility of rain in southern districts, carry an umbrella or raincoat. In dry areas, wear light clothing and stay hydrated.
As the monsoon departs from Rajasthan, a transition in weather patterns is underway. The weather department advises everyone to stay updated with the latest information and take necessary precautions.
