Chelsea suffered their first Premier League defeat of the season, losing 2-1 to Manchester Unitedon Saturday afternoon.
The setbacks began early whenRobert Sanchez was sent off for a tackle on Bryan Mbeumo in the fifth minute. Enzo Maresca responded with three substitutions in the first half but Chelsea still trailed 2-0 at half-time.
Shortly after the break, goalscorer Casemiro was also sent off after picking up a second yellow card. By that point, Maresca had very little attacking firepower left on the pitch.
However, Trevoh Chalobahdid manage to score a consolation goal.
Their focus will now turn to the Carabao Cup, with a trip to Lincoln City on Tuesday.
Off the pitch, football.london takes a look at the latest headlines from in and around Stamford Bridge.
Kenan Yildiz 'enquiry'Arsenal have reportedly been the latest team to make an enquiry with Kenan Yildiz's entourage over a future transfer, following a summer bid from Chelsea.
football.london previously reported that Chelsea had submitted an offer for the 20-year-old but were met with a firm 'no.'
According to Bianconera News, 'all advances' from Arsenal have been rejected, with the player said to be focused on Juventus. As a result, the Italian giants are thought to already be working on extending his contract, which currently expires in 2029.
His salary is also reportedly set to increase, with €6million (£5m) per season rumoured, up from his current €1.5 million (£1.3m).
football.london says: The interest in the youngster continues to grow but Juventus have remained eager to hold onto him, reflecting the promise he has shown. Given his potential and the club's determination, it seems unlikely that the Italian side will let Yildiz depart anytime soon.
Simons 'failed' moveXavi Simons'agent, Ali Barat, admitted he has no regret about the collapse of his client's proposed move to Chelsea. The Blues missed out on the winger to north London rivals Tottenham.
"Tottenham and Chelsea are both fantastic clubs with solid projects, and there was real interest from both sides," Barat told RMC Sport.
"Chelsea were always clear with us. They had certain constraints that made it difficult to move forward with discussions."
Barat added: "When talks with Tottenham started, it became clear that this would be a project that would be a perfect fit for Xavi. PSG weren’t in their current phase of developing young players, even if he did play a few matches. In football, there is no place for regrets. You always have to look ahead of you."
football.london says: Not everything goes according to plan during transfer windows, and Chelsea missing out on Simons is proof of that. However, the Blues boast a strong squad this season and remain well-positioned to achieve the objectives they set at the start of the campaign. Losing out on Simons is unlikely to have a significant impact on their season.
