After the Sindhur operation, when the Pakistani army demolished nine major terrorist hideouts, since then the terrorist organizations like Jaish-e-Mohammed and Hizbul Mujahideen have started creating new hideouts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The geographical location of this mountainous area bordering the Afghan border helps them hide. Here still many bunkers made after the 1980s and 9/11 are said to be active.
Terrorist incidents in Pakistan are continuously increasing. Between January and August 2025, 605 terrorist incidents were reported in which 138 civilians and 79 policemen were killed. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif recently made a statement that Afghanistan will have to decide whether he is with terrorists or with Pakistan.
