Bengaluru-based EV company Ultraviolette has just pulled the wraps off its newest electric motorcycle, the X47 Crossover. While it looks like a capable adventure tourer, what’s really making news is a piece of technology that’s a first for any production motorcycle in the world: a built-in radar system that comes as standard.
Priced at an introductory ₹2.49 lakh for the first thousand buyers, the X47 aims to make riding safer by giving you an extra set of eyes on the road. The company has developed a system called “UV Hypersense,” which uses a rear-facing radar to constantly monitor traffic behind you.
So what does a radar on a bike actually do for the rider? It powers several safety features you’d normally only find in premium cars:
On top of the radar, Ultraviolette has also fitted the X47 with front and rear cameras that work as a dashcam, recording your ride. All the information from the radar and cameras is displayed on a small secondary screen placed right in the rider’s line of sight.
As for the bike itself, it’s built to be a solid performer. It comes with two battery choices, and the larger one gives you a very impressive range of up to 323 km. It’s no slouch either, with a 0-100 km/h time of around 8 seconds and a top speed of 145 km/h.
Bookings for the X47 Crossover have started, with the first bikes expected to be delivered in October 2025. It’s a big step forward, bringing some genuinely useful safety tech to the world of two-wheelers.
