Aryan Khan’s The Ba***ds of Bollywood is making headlines ever since the series got released on September 18. The show features cameo appearances by as many as 21 celebrities. Where fans loved each and every cameo in the series, Ranbir Kapoor’s cameo did not sit well with the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC).
Ranbir Kapoor’s cameo in Aryan Khan’s The Ba***ds of Bollywood has run into controversy. The NHRC has taken serious note of a scene from the Netflix show that shows Kapoor vaping, which falls under products banned in India. The Commission has asked for strict action against the actor as well as the makers of the series.

At the end of the show, Ranbir Kapoor appears as himself in a brief cameo, where he meets Karan Johar and Aasmaan Singh’s manager. He is seen using an e-cigarette on screen. The scene was released without any health warning, which goes against rules meant to prevent the promotion of tobacco-related products.
The NHRC has stated that the sequence is a violation of the Prohibition of Electronic Cigarettes Act, 2019, which bans the production, sale, and advertising of e-cigarettes in India. The body has issued notices to Netflix, Red Chillies Entertainment, and others associated with The Ba***ds of Bollywood, questioning how such a lapse was allowed. It has also sought registration of an FIR against the actor and the streaming platform.
The complaint argues that the portrayal of vaping in a popular series normalises the use of banned products and sends out the wrong message to viewers, especially young audiences. The NHRC has asked the authorities to investigate the matter and ensure accountability from both the actor and the producers.
As of now, there has been no official response from Netflix, Ranbir Kapoor, or the production team of the series.
