Rs 11560000000 Project: In a major move Mukesh Ambani’s company Reliance has recently announced a major investment in India’s southern state of Tamil Nadu. Reliance Industries’ subsidiary company Reliance Consumer Products Limited is going to set up a manufacturing unit in the state with an initial investment of Rs 1156 crore. As per reports the mega plant will spread over 60 acres and will manufacture everyday products such as snacks biscuits flour spices and edible oils. Will Reliance’s New Plant Create Jobs? State Industries Minister TRB Raja took to X and informed about the mega project. He stated that the plant will be set at the Tamil Nadu State Industries Promotion Corporation (SIPCOT) Allikulam Industrial Park in Tuticorin. He further informed that unit will generate about 2000 direct and indirect jobs over the next five years. Is Reliance Consumer Expanding? It is worth noting that Reliance Consumer Products is expanding its operations rapidly in  the FMCG market. The prime focus of the company is to make its products easily accessible to consumers across the country. This plant in Tamil Nadu will become a supply hub for South India. And the plan is to supply the products manufactured here throughout the country. The major investment is considered a significant step towards establishing Tamil Nadu as an industrial hub. Notably the state already leads in the automobile electronics and textile manufacturing sectors. Now significant investment in the FMCG sector could open up new opportunities. During the annual general meeting which was held in August Reliance had informed that it is going to invest Rs 40000 crore to build a modern food park the largest food park in Asia. The food park would AI robotics and sustainable tech. RIL director Isha Ambani termed RCPL as a growth engine from which the company aims to achieve Rs 1 lakh crore and global presence in the coming five years.
