Overview of the Single Girl Child Merit Scholarship



Single Girl Child Merit Scholarship: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has initiated the online application process for the Single Girl Child Merit Scholarship Scheme. This initiative is designed for outstanding girls who have completed Class 10 under the CBSE board and are now advancing their education in Classes 11 and 12. The deadline for submitting applications is October 23, 2025.


Purpose of the Scholarship

The primary goal of the CBSE Single Girl Child Merit Scholarship Scheme is to foster girls' education and support families that prioritize the education of their only daughter. To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must achieve a minimum of 70% in their Class 10 board examination and continue their studies in Classes 11 and 12.


Categories of the Scholarship

This year, the scholarship is available in two distinct categories:


1. **Scholarship 2025:** For girls who completed Class 10 in 2025 and are currently enrolled in Class 11.


2. **Renewal 2024:** For girls who received this scholarship last year and wish to renew it.


Eligibility Criteria

What are the eligibility criteria?


1. The applicant must be the only child of their parents.


2. Must score 70% or higher in the Class 10 examination.


3. Must be studying in a school affiliated with CBSE.


4. Tuition fees should not exceed ₹2,500 per month until Class 10; for Classes 11 and 12, the limit is ₹3,000 per month (NRI students may receive an exemption of up to ₹6,000).


5. The family's annual income must not surpass ₹8 lakh.


6. Good conduct and regular attendance are mandatory.


Benefits of the Scholarship

What are the benefits?


Selected candidates will receive a scholarship of up to ₹500 per month for a maximum duration of two years. The scholarship will be renewed only if the recipient maintains a score of 70% or above in Class 11 and is promoted to Class 12.


Application Process

How to apply?


Applications must be submitted online. The school where the student is enrolled will verify the application. Incomplete applications or those not verified by the school will be rejected. Parents are required to upload their income affidavit (on notarized stamp paper) and fee receipts during the application process.
