Kirori Mal College buzzed with animal lovers recently as Bhoomi, the eco club, held a vaccination drive . Students teamed up with animal shelter StayPawsitive, which also officially launched its app, Pet Tek, to track stray dogs ' vaccinations and behaviour.

'It was a great opportunity to spread awareness'
On how the initiative came about, Bhoomi president Rishu Kumar says, "We wanted to do something after the SC’s first order on stray dogs in NCR, and this app with the shelter was a great opportunity to spread awareness and sensitise people on the issue." Appreciating the students, Shipra Jha, co-founder of StayPawsitive, says, "Students caring about animals is beautiful."

'These collars are good for the dogs' safety'
Referring to the August 11 Supreme Court order directing civic authorities to round up all stray dogs in NCR, Sandeep Sapra, pet parent and co-founder of the animal shelter, says, "It was quite disheartening." He adds, "Our neighbours, who had been living with us for so long, were discarded from the society. That is why we wanted to come up with this initiative." Highlighting the advantages of the new dog collars with QR codes, Sandeep adds, "It is good for their safety. If a lost dog is found by someone, the owner can know the location where the code was scanned."

History professor Vandana Chaudhary, who is also the convenor of the club, says, "We are like a family here, which is why students joined even on a Sunday. I'm impressed by these dog lovers – their compassion changes hearts."
