India were in trouble early after being asked to bat first. Sri Lanka had them struggling at 124 for 6 with four wickets falling in just two overs. But Deepti and debutant Amanjot Kaur steadied the innings with a vital partnership. Poor fielding from Sri Lanka also helped India recover.
Amanjot scored 57 and Deepti added 53 as India managed to reach 269 for 8 in their 47 overs. The match was shortened due to rain which caused a 90-minute delay and reduced the game to 47 overs per side. The DLS target for Sri Lanka was set at 271.
How was Sri Lankas chase?
In their chase Sri Lankan captain Chamari Athapaththu looked dangerous scoring a quick 43 off 47 balls. She hit Deepti for two sixes and two fours in back-to-back overs. But after her wicket Sri Lanka lost momentum and were bowled out for 211 in 45.4 overs.
How did Team Indias bowling attack perform?
Indias bowling attack even without senior pacer Renuka Singh performed well. Youngsters Kranti Goud and Amanjot Kaur picked up a wicket each with the new ball. The spin trio led by Deepti took control on a dry pitch that had stayed under covers due to the rain.
Sneh Rana took 2 for 32 and left-arm spinner Shree Charani impressed with 2 for 37 in her 8 overs Deepti got the big wicket of Chamari with a clever plan bowling fast full and flat around the wicket. Chamari missed her shot trying to hit across the line and the ball hit the stumps.
