6 lakh stolen and lost smartphones were found with the help of communication partner!

The central government informed on Tuesday (September 30) that 6 lakhs have been lost and stolen mobile phone recovered from the ‘Civil-Centenary Digital Security Pahara’ of the Department of Telecommunications so far. According to the ministry, the facility of this platform ‘Block your lost/stolen mobile’ has strengthened the trust of citizens in digital governance. This initiative is playing an important role in protecting the digital properties of citizens and curbing cyber crime.

Communications partner platform integrates the Department of Telecommunications, Telecom Service Provider (TSP) and the State/Union Territory Police. Through this, citizens can report their lost or stolen mobile phones on all Indian networks, block, trace or unlocking them.

The government said that as soon as a new SIM is used in a stolen or lost mobile, the system automatically generates trasability and sends an alert to the citizens as well as the police station where the complaint was lodged. Details of the concerned police station are provided to the citizen through SMS.

In January 2025, where the monthly recovery was 28,115 phones, it increased to 45,243 by August 2025. This reflects an increase of about 61 percent in eight months.

The communication fellow platform launched in May 2023 has so far recorded more than 19 crore website visits and more than 90 lakh mobile app downloads. The government says that this achievement strengthens the approach to a safe digital ecosystem in which technology form the basis of civil empowerment and security.
