The report was released under the title 25 Years of Indian Cinema. It covers films released between January 2000 and August 2025. IMDb is a global movie database with more than 250 million monthly users, and its findings are widely respected in the entertainment industry.

The study is based on user ratings. It highlights the five most popular Indian films released each year over 25 years. In total, 130 movies made it to the list. Shah Rukh Khan appeared in 20 of them, making him the actor with the most appearances.

The data shows that Shah Rukh dominated Indian cinema in the early 2000s. Between 2000 and 2004, he acted in eight of the 25 most popular films of that period. His movies not only performed at the box office but also won immense global recognition.

Even in years when he had no film releases, his popularity never faded. IMDb confirmed that he consistently appeared in its list of most popular celebrities. In 2024, he was ranked in the Top 10 every single week of the year.

This consistency highlights Shah Rukh’s unmatched influence in Indian cinema. His career has spanned over three decades, and his ability to connect with audiences across generations has made him a global star.

In a statement, Shah Rukh Khan reacted with humility. He said the recognition was encouraging. He added that his main goal had always been to entertain and inspire people. “My purpose has always been to tell stories and win hearts. The report also emphasized that Shah Rukh’s popularity extends beyond India. His films are among the most watched and most discussed internationally, making him one of the strongest cultural ambassadors of Indian cinema.
