Asia Cup 2025 trophy presentation row escalates as BCCI exits ACC meeting after fight with Mohsin Naqvi

New Delhi: The dispute surrounding the presentation of the Asia Cup 2025 trophy to champions India remained unresolved and intensified at the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Board meeting on Tuesday September 30 2025 after the BCCI walked out in protest. According to The Hindu BCCI representatives Rajeev Shukla vice-president and former treasurer Ashish Shelar both attending the meeting virtually logged out after ACC president Mohsin Naqvi did not suggest awarding the trophy and winners medals to the Indian cricket team. Following the walkout the ACC Board did not pass any resolution on the issue. BCCI representatives walked out of the ACC meeting Shelar informed members that the BCCI secretary Devajit Sakia has already written to ACC about the same but there has been no response. The BCCI wants the trophy and medals to be delivered to ACCs office in Dubai from where the Indian board will get it collected. However Shelar didnt get a positive response for the same. So Shelar and Shukla decided to quit the meeting marking their protest a top BCCI official told The Indian Express. He also mentioned that Naqvi in his opening speech didnt congratulate the Indian officials for winning the Asia Cup 2025 title. Meeting was conducted after the end of the tournament The meeting was conducted just after a controversial end of the tournament where Suryakumar Yadav-led India avoided shaking hands with Pakistans team. During the post-match presentation the team India also refused to accept the trophy from Naqvi who rejected Indias demand. Following the Asia Cup 2025 final Suryakumar Yadav explained how the event unfolded in Dubai on Sunday in an interview with The Indian Express he said the players remained outside the dressing room waiting to collect the trophy for nearly an hour. We didn’t close the door and sit inside the dressing room. We didn’t make anyone wait for the presentation ceremony. Trophy leke bhaag gaye woh (They ran away with the trophy). That’s what I saw. I don’t know some people were making a video of us but we were standing. We didn’t go inside the 34-year-old said.
