On Wednesday police arrested Shyamkanu Mahanta organiser of the North East India Festival along with Zubeen Gargs manager Siddharth Sharma in connection with the singers death in Singapore last month. Festival Organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta and Manager Siddhartha Sharma Arrested Mahanta was taken into custody in Singapore and brought to Delhi before being flown to Guwahati amid tight security. Sharma manager of Zubeen Garg was detained from Rajasthan after staying overnight in Gurugram. He will also be taken to Assam shortly. The duo has been taken into custody in connection with Zubeen Gargs death who died in Singapore due to drowning in the sea on September 19. According to a report by PTI the Assam government had set up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) consisting 10 members to investigate Zubeen Gargs death. The SIT headed by Special DGP MP Gupta had issued notices to several people to record their statements in connection with the case.  Earlier Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that a lookout notice had been issued against Mahanta and Sharma through Interpol directing them to appear before the CID by October 6. About Zubeen Garg Fondly known as the Son of Assam Zubeen Garg was one of the states most celebrated singers. His sudden demise came as a shock to fans and the people of Assam. He was cremated with full state honours in Kamarkuchi village on the outskirts of Guwahati on September 23. The final rites were performed by his sister Palme Borthakur. The singers widow Garima Saikia was seen in tears as she paid her last tribute to Zubeen. A massive crowd was gathered at the crematorium to bid an emotional farewell to their celebrated singer. A gun salute was fired in honour of Zubeen in Kamarkuchi village.
