A funny tweet from Rishi Kapoor once led to confusion about Twinkle Khanna being his illegitimate daughter, the actor revealed on Kajol and Twinkle Khanna’s new talk show Two Much with Kajol and Twinkle. Alongside Twinkle, Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan also shared personal memories of the late actor.

Birthday wish that created a mix-up

Twinkle Khanna recalled how a birthday tweet by Rishi Kapoor once caused a stir. She said, “I almost became a Kapoor because of Alia’s father-in-law. On my birthday, he tweeted very generously, ‘Oh you know…when you were in your mother’s stomach, I serenaded her.’ So everybody thought that I was his illegitimate daughter. Then he got trolled and he had to clarify, saying, ‘No, I am so sorry.’”

Kajol pointed out Alia Bhatt’s awkward reaction during the story, after which Twinkle added, “I am not your sister-in-law, it was a mistake.” Varun Dhawan joked, “She doesn’t know how to react.”

Varun Dhawan also spoke about Rishi Kapoor’s sense of humour and discipline on the sets of Student of the Year. He said, “I remember I had a football sequence with Sidharth Malhotra and Rishi ji had a problem with the amount of gel in our hair. He kept saying, ‘What is this? Your hair don’t move. Come hail or storm, your hair don’t move. You guys are playing football, your hair should move.’”

Varun added that Rishi Kapoor refused to continue until the gel was removed. “We didn’t do the next shot until they removed the gel,” he said.

Alia Bhatt says daughter Raha has Rishi Kapoor’s energy

Alia Bhatt shared her own memories of Rishi Kapoor from the sets of Kapoor & Sons. She said, “I wasn’t dating Ranbir at that time but we (her and Rishi Kapoor) would hang out every evening. He had the most wonderful stories to tell. He would call everybody after shoot to chill and have dinner together. That ambience was very good, I really miss him.”

She added, “Now, whenever people see Raha, they say she is mini Rishi Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. There is some of his energy in her and she depicts that from time to time.”

Rishi Kapoor shared a long association with the Kapoor and Khanna families. He made his debut opposite Twinkle’s mother, Dimple Kapadia, in Raj Kapoor’s 1973 classic Bobby.
