Tata Communications announced a partnership with BSNL to launch eSIM services across India. Tata Communications’ GSMA-accredited Move platform will enable users to activate mobile connections remotely without a physical SIM card. Dual-SIM device owners can also pair an eSIM with a physical SIM. This will give seamless connectivity with local operators while travelling abroad. What Are BSNL’s eSIM Services? The eSIM rollout is powered by Tata Communications Collaboration Services Pvt. Ltd. (TCCSPL) and will allow BSNL to manage eSIM provisioning for its nationwide subscriber base. BSNL’s eSIMs support remote activation of 2G 3G and 4G services through a QR code. Calling the launch a milestone for the telecom operator BSNL Chairman and Managing Director A Robert Ravi said: “The launch of pan-India eSIM service represents a strategic advancement in our national telecom capabilities. With Tata Communications’ strong connectivity expertise and innovation we are enhancing the flexibility security and efficiency of mobile services for citizens across India. This aligns with our commitment to digital independence and robust infrastructure for the future.” BSNL had earlier introduced eSIM services in Tamil Nadu in August. The state-run telco has also been ramping up its efforts to expand nationwide services—recently launching 4G in Delhi and signing a one-year MoU with India Post to distribute SIM cards and offer recharge services across 1.65 lakh post offices. Mukesh Ambanis Jio and Sunil Mittals Airtel already offer eSIM (embedded SIM) services in India. Now BSNL can create a challenge in front of these 2 telecom companies .
