Puri: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) is all set to establish a Digital Library in Odisha’s Puri to preserve the sacred Madala Panji, along with rare temple records, rituals, and palm-leaf manuscripts.

The plan was announced by Chief Administrator of SJTA Arabinda Padhee in a post on X handle. The proposed Digital Library will serve as a repository of centuries-old records, offering digital access to devotees and researchers worldwide, he said.

“With the blessings of Mahaprabhu, SJTA is going to set up a Digital Library to preserve rare temple records, rituals, the sacred Madala Panji, palm-leaf manuscripts and more, while providing digital access to devotees and researchers. This unique initiative seeks to safeguard the timeless heritage of Shree Jagannatha Temple,” the SJTA chief said in his post.

Considered the 12th century shrine’s chronicle, the Madala Panji has been maintained for centuries and records historical events, rituals, and administrative details of Shree Jagannath Temple.

Officials said that proper preservation of such invaluable manuscripts through digital archiving is expected to ensure their protection for future generations while also promoting wider accessibility.
