Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police has imposed traffic restrictions in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack cities for Durga Puja immersion ceremony on Friday.
In Bhubaneswar, the traffic restrictions imposed by the police will be in force from 2 pm on October 3 to 1 am on October 4.
For the convenience of people as well as smooth movement of vehicles in the state capital, four routes have been earmarked for the immersion processions of for important Bhasani Committees.
These are Shaheed Nagar Bhasani Samiti, Nayapalli Bhasani Committee, Chandrasekharpur Bhasani Committee and Old Town Bhasani Committee.
Accordingly, Police have issued traffic advisory for Bhasani of Durga Puja idols today.
During this immersion procession, no vehicles are allowed to ply on Janpath road. They can go through Sachivalay Marg and its adjoining roads. This restriction will be in force from 2 pm till the end of the Bhasani Yatra.
For all the idols coming from Saheed Nagar, no vehicles will be allowed to ply from Rajmahal via Ram Mandir via Master Canteen to Vani Vihar.
All the medhas of Nayapalli Bhasani Committee will be congregated at Nayapalli and from there they will proceed towards Soor Company Chowk via Nayapalli Underpass, CRP Chowk, DAV Chowk and take a right turn to Gopabandhu Chowk, Siripur Chowk.
During this immersion procession, vehicles proceed towards Jayadev Vihar side from CRP side shall be diverted at CRP Square via Ekamra Park Road. This restriction will be in force from 2 pm till the end of the Bhasani Yatra. During this time, vehicles plying on Stewarts School Road, Unit-8 Road, OUAT Chack – New Airport Road can go through its adjoining roads.
All the medhas of Chandrasekhar Pur Bhasani committee will be congregated at Club Town Apartment field and from there they will proceed to Nalco Chowk via Damana Square.
All vehicles coming from Khordha side will not be allowed to go on the service roads. They can only go on the NH (flyovers).
The following sites are designated for immersion of Goddess Durga:-
1. Two locations near the river Kuakhai both sides i.e. one at Palasuni and other at Hanspal side
2. Near Daya River at Lingipur (Puri road)
3. Near river Kuakhai, Basuaghai, Tankapani Road
4. Near Centurion nearby KITT campus side under JMC, Jatni
5. Temporary site made by Chandaka G.P. near NIT side
6. Kusabhadra river and other temporary locations under Balipatna PS and Bhingarpur GP. Temporary pond at Ramchandra pur near Canal side.
The above restrictions will be imposed as per Section 28 of the Odisha Urban Police Act, 2003 (Section 8 of the Odisha Act, 2007) and Section 36 of the Police Commissionerate Bhubaneswar-Cuttack, Traffic and Public Order, 2008.
Similarly for Cuttack:
For the first time, a special police team named “CTC 60” has been formed that will take strict action against sound pollution or processions that produce more than 60 decibels sound.
Cuttack DCP Rishikesh Khilari informed in details about the arrangements for Bhasani.
The Puja committees have been requested to take out their Bhasani Sobha Yatra at 8 am tomorrow. Keeping in mind the adverse weather, the Commissionerate Police has appealed to everyone to cooperate.
