Shani pradosh vrat puja:According to the Hindu calendar, Pradosh Vrat is held twice in every month, which is kept on Trayodashi Tithi.

These fasts are held on both Krishna Paksha and Shukla Paksha. When this fast falls on Saturday, it is called Shani Pradosh Vrat.

This year, Shani Pradosh Vrat of Shukla Paksha of Ashwin month is falling on October 4, Saturday. It is believed that by observing this fast, Lord Shiva gets special grace and gets rid of Shani dosha.

Worship method

On the day of Shani Pradosh fast, take a bath in the morning and wear clean clothes. Clean the temple of the house and install the idol or picture of the Shiva family.

Light a lamp of ghee and offer fruits, flowers, incense and naivedya. Chant Shiva mantras and perform the aarti.

After bathing again in the evening Pradosh Muhurta, go to Shiva temple. Offer water, bilvapatra, mak flower, dhatura, cannabis, honey and sugarcane on the Shivling.

Listen to the story of Shani Pradosh Vrat and chant the mantra “Om Namah Shivaya”. Don’t forget to apologize at the end of worship. After this, worship Shani Dev by lighting a mustard oil lamp under the peepal tree.

Special measures

Jalabhishek on Shivling: Mix black sesame and shami letter in water and offer it to Shivling and recite Shiva Chalisa. This remedy reduces the inauspicious effects of Saturn.

Belpatra Arpan: Putting 108 Belpatra Shivling on this day is considered extremely auspicious.

Donation and remedy: Donating items to urad dal, black clothes, shoes and Shani Dev is beneficial.
