The Delhi Government has made it mandatory to install rooftop solar panels on all government buildings with more than 500 square meters area. Officials said solar panels will be set up at hundreds of schools, more than 40 fire centers, 24 Delhi Jal Board offices and more than 70 buildings of Delhi Municipal Corporation under the scheme. This will not only save electricity, but will also contribute to environmental protection.

With this initiative, Delhi Government (Delhi Government) is expected to save more than Rs 50 crore annually in the electricity bill. Also, carbon emissions will reduce 46 thousand tons of carbon dioxide. According to officials, the rooftop solar plants have already been set up at more than 1,200 out of 3,880 identified government buildings.
Last month, CM Rekha Gupta launched a project to install solar panels on 1,000 government buildings at an event held in Rithala, North West Delhi. During this, he inaugurated a 25 kW solar plant at a sewage treatment plant in Rithala. The Chief Minister said, ‘The project will be completed by January next year. Soon the work of solarizing other government buildings will start.
