If you work in a company or office and your Provident Fund (PF) money is deducted from your salary every month, you likely have a Universal Account Number (UAN). This number is crucial because it identifies your PF account. However, sometimes when we change jobs or don't log in to our PF account for a long time, we forget our UAN number. Then, when we need to withdraw money or check our balance, we're left at a loss. There's no need to panic. The EPFO has now launched a method that allows you to recover your UAN number from the comfort of your home, using your mobile phone, in just a few minutes.

How to get your UAN number from the EPFO website
Recovering your UAN has become very easy. You don't need to visit an office or agent. You just need the mobile number you registered with your PF account. To do this, you'll first need to visit the EPFO's official website. The website is: https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in. There, you'll find an option labeled "Know your UAN." Click on it. Now, enter your mobile number, which you provided in your PF account. An OTP will be sent to that number. Enter the OTP correctly and verify it.

No Last-Minute Problems
After this, you'll need to fill in some information, such as your name, date of birth, and your Aadhaar or PAN number. If all this information is correct, your UAN number will appear on the screen. Sometimes, this number can also be sent to your mobile via text message. The entire process is very simple and will take two to three minutes.

Why is the UAN number important?
The question may arise: why is this number so important? Essentially, the UAN number is the key to your PF account. Without it, you can't check your PF balance, withdraw funds, or even link your old account to a new one if you change jobs. The UAN number tells you how much money is in your account, when it was deposited, and how many times you have withdrawn money. This number serves as a kind of identity card for every employee.

Withdrawal of PF funds from ATMs
It's worth noting that the EPFO has significantly improved its online services over the past few years. Previously, people had to visit offices and fill out forms to check their PF balance, but now everything is online. Another major feature is about to arrive, and it's being widely discussed. According to reports, the EPFO is implementing a system that will allow people to withdraw money from their PF accounts directly through ATM machines. This means that just like withdrawing money from a bank account through an ATM, PF funds can now be withdrawn. This facility is expected to begin in January, although no specific date has been announced yet.
