The court, while giving a big verdict, has acquitted notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and his three associates.

In a significant verdict, a Mohali court has acquitted notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and three of his associates. According to reports, a local court acquitted gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and three co-accused in an Arms Act case, while one man was convicted and sentenced to three years in prison. The trial, which began in 2022 at the Sohana police station, involved five accused gangsters: Lawrence Bishnoi, Asim alias Hasham Baba, Deepak, Vikram Singh alias Vicky, and Sonu. The court acquitted Lawrence Bishnoi, Asim, Deepak, and Vicky of all charges because the police failed to produce evidence against the four accused. However, Sonu, a resident of Meerut, was sentenced to three years in prison and a fine of ₹500. If he fails to pay the fine, his jail term will be extended by one month.

During court proceedings, defense lawyer Karan Sofat argued that the case against Bishnoi and others was closed because the investigating officer had not completed his testimony. The court ruled that his partial statement could not be considered valid evidence. The government relied on the statement of a recovery witness, Sub-Inspector Deepak Singh, who confirmed that weapons and ammunition were recovered from Sonu. His testimony proved crucial in proving the charges against Sonu.

Following Sonu's arrest, investigators recorded his statement and arrested Deepak Pundir, alias Deepu. Vikramjeet Singh was later taken into custody. During interrogation, Lawrence Bishnoi named Asim, alias Hasham Baba. Meanwhile, Bishnoi, Asim, Deepak, and Vicky were acquitted in the case because their allegations were not proven.
