When Tilak Verma came to the crease during the Asia Cup final, Pakistani players “criticized” him, inspired by this Indian batsman played one of the best innings of his career. The Indian team was in a difficult situation due to the consecutive wicket fall in the initial overs. Amidst the tense atmosphere between the two teams, Tilak was severely criticized, but he maintained his restraint and batted brilliantly under heavy pressure.
Tilak wanted to pressurize with his bat
Tilak said in a conversation with team partner Shivam Dubey on BCCI.TV, “I wanted to answer with my bat. They were saying a lot, and I just wanted to answer with my bat. Now they are not visible on the field.” The 60 -run partnership for the fifth wicket between Dubey and Tilak helped India win the Asia Cup with two balls remaining. Tilak remained unbeaten after scoring 69 runs off 53 balls. Dubey again said softly, “I think my bat was also speaking; he had nothing to tell me.”
Vande Mataram fascinated me
Tilak said that the stadium environment inspired him to perform well in such a big match. The left -handed batsman said, “I was overwhelmed by the audience raising the slogans of ‘Vande Mataram’. I just want to say ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’.” Dubey also faced a tough challenge of throwing the first over of the match in the absence of experienced Hardik Pandya, in addition to playing an aggressive innings of 33 runs in the middle order.
Dubey’s bowling was being closely monitored for some time, but his impressive performance in the Asia Cup has shown a significant improvement in his bowling. He said, “My bowling is the result of hard work and prayers of supporters of the Indian team. The management has given me full support and confidence. It was an important match and I got a big opportunity. I enjoyed it very much.”
