Gud wali kheer recipe:Sharad Purnima has a special religious and Ayurvedic significance in Hinduism. It is believed that on this night, the rays of the moon cause nectar rain. This is the reason that kheer is kept under the open sky on this day and the next morning it is taken as a prasad. This year, the festival of Sharad Purnima will be celebrated on 6 October 2025 i.e. today, Monday. Sharad Purnima is also called Kojagari Purnima. This night is considered particularly to health benefits and spiritual purification. Kheer kept in the light of the moon is considered like nectar. It is believed that consuming this kheer provides relief from many diseases and increases immunity in the body.
Full cream milk: ½ liter
Basmati rice: ½ cup
Saffron: 1-2 threads (soaked in 2 teaspoons of milk)
Jaggery: ½ cup (ground)
Dried fruits: cashews, almonds, pistachios, raisins – ½ cup
Cardamom Powder: ½ teaspoon
Ghee: 1 teaspoon
Prepare rice and saffron:- First wash the rice and soak it in water for one hour. Soak saffron in two teaspoons of milk and keep it aside.
Cook rice in milk:- Boil milk in a deep pan. When milk comes to a boil, add soaked rice and saffron milk to it. Slow the gas and let the rice cook well.
Fry dry fruits:- Heat ghee in a pan and add cashews, almonds, pistachios and raisins and fry it lightly. Remove them and keep them separate.
Melt jaggery:- Put ground jaggery in the same pan and melt it on low flame. Keep in mind that the jaggery does not boil, only melted well. Turn off the gas after melting.
Prepare Kheer:- When the rice is completely cooked in milk, add melted jaggery and roasted dry fruits to it. Mix it well.
Increase flavor:- Add cardamom powder to the kheer a few minutes before the gas is turned off and mix well. This will bring brilliant scent and taste in Kheer.
Serve and decorate:- Now take out the prepared kheer in the serving bowl and garnish with finely chopped almonds and pistachios.
This kheer made of jaggery and dry fruits is not only delicious but also provides heat to the body. The jaggery present in Kheer is helpful in digestion and is rich in iron.
