Maharishi Valmiki is considered the first poet of Sanskrit literature, who has the title of ‘Adi Kavi’. He composed the Ramayana in about 24,000 verses, divided into seven incidents. All sections including the answer scandal are considered the soul of Indian culture. Valmiki ji was not only the author of Ramayana but he was also its first speaker. According to the Ramayana, when Goddess Sita got exile from Ayodhya, she took refuge in the ashram of Maharishi Valmiki. It was here that Luv and Kush were born and they were raised. Valmiki taught him and recited the Ramayana.

Valmiki’s early life was spent as a robber named Ratnakar, who looted the passengers. But one day he met Maharishi Narada. Narada asked him questions on the purpose and influence of his deeds, which led to Ratnakar’s change of heart. Under the guidance of Narada, Ratnakar did harsh penance and became meditated while remembering the name of Lord Rama. His penance was so deep that an ant bills were formed around him. When he opened attention, he was born as a new personality, Valmiki, that is, which originated from Valmik (Ant’s Bill). His conversion is a wonderful example of spiritual awakening and attainment of salvation in Indian culture.
