Google has recently appointed Ragini Das as the head of startups in Google India. In this new role, he and his team will guide the global emerging startups through the right people, products and best practices, so that these businesses can grow rapidly.
Ragini Das shared the story behind her appointment on X (East Twitter), in which she mentioned the ups and downs of her career. He told that in 2013 he gave two important interviews. One in Google and the other in Zomato. Although he was not selected in Google, the opportunity to join Zomato proved to be helpful in choosing the right path of his career. After this, he co-established leap.club and in June this year, Google got this opportunity while taking a career break.
Born in Gurugram, Ragini completed her schooling from Chetinad Vidyashram in Chennai and also worked as a cultural secretary there. He then obtained a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Lancaster University. During this, he took the experience of making market research and commercial planning by making internships in Standard Chartered Banks and other institutions.
In 2012, Das started work in domestic marketing in Trident Group India. He was later promoted to handle customers and hotels in Europe and America to analyze sales performances and cooperate in production and logistics.
In 2013, Ragini Das joined Zomato as sales and marketing managers. During six years, he played roles like Chief Account Manager and Regional Sales Manager. In 2017, she became part of the founding team of Zomato Gold and successfully expanded it in 10 international markets. He did important work on user growth, engagement, retention and product marketing.
In 2020, Das co-established leap.club providing professional networking and interest-based communities for women. This platform provided professional opportunities, events and networking opportunities to thousands of women. Its operation ended in June 2025, but its impact remained for a long time.
Ragini Das is also the chairman of the women’s committee at Startups at FICCI and through this role she is promoting the contribution of women to the Indian Startup Ecosystem. With this appointment, Das’s career has reached a new point, where his experience and networking skills will provide guidance and development opportunities for Indian and international startups.
