A trip to the Uttarakhand ’s Garbyang region will present travellers with a unique staying option from now on. This is because the Indian Army inaugurated a tent-based homestay facility at the scenic and historically significant village of Garbyang in the Kumaon sector. As ANI reported, the inauguration took place on October 6, 2025, under the aegis of Operation Sadbhavna , with Lieutenant General DG Misra, GOC, Uttar Bharat Area, officiating the ceremony.

The inauguration was attended by enthusiastic villagers of Garbyang, who lauded the project for opening new avenues for local employment and economic opportunities. The Army emphasized that the homestay, while developed under Operation Sadbhavna, would be handed over to the villagers for independent operation, to ensure that it’s managed by the community, and generates revenue.
