It is not only delicious in taste but is also very beneficial from health point of view. Rich in fiber and protein, this dish helps in reducing weight, improves digestion and also keeps blood sugar under control. It is also very easy to make and the ingredients used in it can be easily found in the kitchen. So let us know the step by step method of making oats poha.
Oats – ½ cup
Oil – 2 tbsp
Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
Cumin – ½ tsp
Curry leaves – 10-12
Green chilli (chopped) – 1 tbsp
Onion (chopped) – ¼ cup
Carrots (chopped) – ¼ cup
Capsicum – ¼ cup
French beans – ¼ cup
Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
Coriander powder – ½ tsp
Salt – as per taste
Lemon juice – as per taste
Coriander leaves – for garnishing
First of all, wash half a cup of oats with clean water. Then filter the water thoroughly and keep the oats aside.
Heat a pan on medium flame. Pour oil into it and then add mustard seeds, cumin seeds and curry leaves. As soon as it starts crackling, add finely chopped green chillies and onion.
When the onion turns golden, add carrots, capsicum, French beans and peas. Mix well, cover and cook so that the vegetables become soft. Keep the gas flame low.
After the vegetables are cooked, add turmeric powder, coriander powder and salt as per taste. Mix everything well.
Now add washed oats to it and mix. Also add half a glass of water and let it cook on low flame for 5 minutes.
Switch off the gas and add lemon juice and finely chopped coriander leaves to the prepared poha. Now serve hot oats poha.
