Outlander fans eagerly awaiting the final eighth season can now catch Marsali Fraser actress Lauren Lyle in a gripping new psychological drama, The Ridge. The six-part series centres around Mia, whose career has crumbled due to addiction. She travels to New Zealand for her estranged sister's wedding, only to discover upon arrival that her sister has tragically died.
Mia becomes entangled in the local community and uncovers a web of secrets surrounding her late sister. Adding to the intrigue, Mia finds herself drawn to her sister's fiance Ewan, hinting at plenty of drama on the horizon, reports Daily Record.
The series is set to premiere on Tuesday 21 October on BBC iPlayer and BBC Scotland, with BBC Two airing the series from Thursday 23 October.
Joining Lauren in the star-studded cast are New Zealand actor Jay Ryan as Ewan, alongside Dulcie Smart, Florence Hartigan, Chloe Parker, David Van Horn, Taqi Nazeer, Claire Dargo and Cora Bissett.
Filming took place in both New Zealand and Scotland, with Lauren expressing her excitement about travelling for the role.
In a February interview with Radio Times, when filming was announced, Lauren revealed: "Mia is such a fascinating character in a very weird world which is quite delicious to play."
She added: "It feels like something very bad is going to play out... in a good way! New Zealand is also a second home to me so it's a joy to be back."
Gavin Smith, BBC Scotland's commissioning editor, hailed the show as "an example of our ambition to look beyond borders to bring high end quality drama to audiences not just in Scotland but across the world".
He further stated: "The Ridge has a first class international team bringing it to life which we are proud to be a part of."
This follows Lauren's recent leading role in the second series of Karen Pirie and her upcoming appearance on stage at the Soho Theatre in Most Favoured.
