Manchester United’s board remain behind Ruben Amorim, having previously reached a ‘unanimous’ decision over his predecessor. The Portuguese coach is under huge pressure at Old Trafford following a woeful start to the season.
United sit tenth in the Premier League following just three league wins since the start of the campaign. That has seen Amorim’s future called into question, with chiefs having already held crisis talks over his future.
Earlier this month, it was revealed that Old Trafford powerbrokers had spoken to players about their head coach - coming away with the impression the dressing room remain fully behind him.
As it stands, United are retain faith in their manager, with confidence he will eventually get it right. Amorim may feel slightly fortunate that he has been given a stay of execution given the same privilege was not afforded to his predecessor Erik ten Hag.
The Dutchman endured a woeful third season at the club despite having lifted the FA Cup the campaign before and was consequently sacked. Before he was officially jettisoned, United held a board meeting to decide Ten Hag’s future, with all of the prominent chiefs voting ‘unanimously’ for the former Ajax man to be moved on.

And while a decision on Amorim’s own future will be one decided by the club’s bosses, the opinion of co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is sure to hold considerable weight. As it stands, it appears that the Ineos boss is keen to see the former Sporting Lisbon man remain in the hotseat.
Asked if Amorim is set to be given time, Ratcliffe said: "Yes. That is where I would be. Three years. Because football is not overnight.
"It's three years. You also look at [Mikel] Arteta at Arsenal. He had a miserable time over the first couple of years. We have to be patient. We have a long-term plan. It isn't a light switch.
"You can't run a club like Manchester United on knee-jerk reactions to some journalist who goes off on one every week."
Pressed on whether the Glazers would have a say, Ratcliffe replied: "It's not going to happen," before adding: "That probably sums it up. We're local and they're the other side of the pond.

"That's a long way away to try and manage a football club as big and complex as Manchester United. We're here with feet on the ground. They [the Glazers] get a bad rap... but they are really nice people and they are really passionate about the club."
Amorim will be hoping to start justifying United’s faith in his services over the coming weeks. The Red Devils are back in action this weekend as they take on fierce rivals Liverpool at Anfield.
