CM Mohan Yadav gave a gift of Rs 7000 crore in the 5th state level cleanliness overall function organized in Bhopal. 8 cities including Indore, Ujjain, Bhopal were honored with cleanliness awards. Simhastha also spoke on the preparations for 2028.

Bhopal. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav participated as the chief guest in the 5th State Level Cleanliness Award and Workshop “Swachhata Samagra Samaroh” organized at Ravindra Bhawan, Bhopal on 14 October. On this occasion, the Chief Minister gifted development works worth Rs 7000 crore to the urban bodies of the state.

He said that when Prime Minister Narendra Modi took oath for the first time, he had called for cleanliness from the Red Fort. In the same direction, today the country and the state have made significant progress in the direction of cleanliness.

Big achievement of cities of Madhya Pradesh in cleanliness survey

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that in the Cleanliness Survey 2024, eight cities of Madhya Pradesh — Indore, Ujjain, Bhopal, Jabalpur, Gwalior, Dewas, Shahganj and Budni — have received cleanliness awards. Indore has once again set a new record in cleanliness.

In the programme, the Chief Minister honored the public representatives and Safai Mitras of these cities. Also, he appreciated all the urban bodies contributing towards cleanliness.

Big contribution of small districts also

Now even small districts have made their mark in the field of cleanliness. Six small districts like Mandla, Tikamgarh have also been included in the cleanliness ranking. The Chief Minister said that the aim of the state government is that in the coming time, legacy waste (old garbage) will be completely eliminated from the cities. On this occasion, 64 awards were given in various categories.

The state got the gift of development schemes

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that the state is getting a gift of Rs 22.5 thousand crores even before Diwali. He stated that:

  • Namami Narmade scheme worth Rs 10 thousand crore is being started.
  • Works worth Rs 7 thousand crore will be done under Amrit-2 scheme.
  • Chief Minister Infrastructure Scheme is also being started, the cost of which is Rs 5 thousand crores.

He said that projects worth about Rs 20 thousand crore will take shape in the next three years.

Preparations for Simhastha 2028 on war footing

The Chief Minister said that Simhastha-2028 is the biggest religious event not only of Ujjain but of the world. Preparations for this are going on on a large scale. He said, "Water is the basis of life, and bathing in holy rivers in events like Simhastha has special significance. The upcoming Kumbh will be one from which the entire world will learn." A short film based on cleanliness campaign was also screened in the programme.

Important role of Safai Mitras in cleanliness fortnight

The Chief Minister said that cleanliness fortnight was celebrated in the urban bodies of the state from 17th September to 2nd October. Safai Mitras played an important role in this campaign, which made an unprecedented contribution in making the cities clean.

Emphasis on mental and environmental cleanliness

Minister of State Pratima Bagri said that we should not only maintain the cleanliness of our surroundings but also our mental cleanliness. He said that like Indore, our aim is to make other cities of the state also clean and beautiful. He appealed that people should also actively participate in cleaning rivers and ponds.

Garbage accumulated over the years will be removed

Additional Chief Secretary Sanjay Dubey said that Madhya Pradesh has been setting new standards in the field of cleanliness for the last eight years. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has encouraged the spirit of healthy competition regarding cleanliness in the country.

He said that like before Diwali, we should also pay attention to the cleanliness of our cities. The state government has resolved that the old waste accumulated in more than 40 urban bodies will be removed. Also, the door-to-door garbage collection system will be further strengthened.

Madhya Pradesh will remain leader in cleanliness

At the end of the program, the officials expressed confidence that Madhya Pradesh will remain the leading state of the country in cleanliness in the coming years also. The Chief Minister appealed to all the municipal bodies, Safai Mitras and citizens to take this campaign forward as a mass movement.
