Importance of Dhanteras

The festival of Diwali is around the corner, which is celebrated for five days, which includes festivities from Dhanteras to Bhai Dooj. This festival has special significance in Hindu religion and it is celebrated with great pomp throughout the country. Kuber, Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Dhanvantari are worshiped on the day of Dhanteras. On this day people buy gold and silver to please Goddess Lakshmi. It is believed that the rituals performed on this day bring blessings of Goddess Lakshmi. Many beliefs to Dhanteras are also prevalent, but apart from gold and silver, you can also buy other items on this day.

Things to buy on Dhanteras

brass pot:
There is a tradition of buying brass utensils on Dhanteras. It is believed that this brings happiness and prosperity to the house. According to mythology, when Lord Dhanvantari emerged from the churning of the ocean, he had a brass nectar pot in his hand. Therefore, buying brass on this day is considered auspicious.

Gomati Chakra:
Gomati Chakra is dear to Goddess Lakshmi. If you bring Gomati Chakra and worship it on the day of Dhanteras, Goddess Lakshmi is pleased with it. After puja, keep it in your wealth store, so that there will be no shortage of money.

Whole Coriander:
Buying whole coriander on Dhanteras is also considered auspicious. Offer it to Goddess Lakshmi and then plant it in your garden or pot. With this there will be no shortage of money in your house.

Broom:
In Hindu religion, the broom is considered a form of Goddess Lakshmi. It is auspicious to buy a new broom on this day. If you are unable to purchase gold or silver, consider purchasing a broom.
