The Orange County Clerk of Court’s website published the result of Lynda’s Monday’s hearing, reporting that she was charged with petit theft. The singer did not appear in court but authorized her lawyer to attend and hear the verdict.

The court determined that Lynda had violated the law but did not impose a criminal sentence, and that she must pay the fines and fees 273 by Dec. 12. If she fulfills her obligations and does not reoffend, the case will be fully closed without a criminal record.

On Aug. 14, Lynda and her lawyer filed a petition requesting the court to suspend her case, citing her ongoing application for the Pre-Trial Diversion (PTD) program, which allows certain offenders—typically first-time or minor offenders—a chance to avoid criminal prosecution under Florida state law. However, the case was requested to continue in September.

According to court records, on Jan. 4, Lynda purchased two bottles of perfume at a Gucci store in Florida. She then took an AirPods case from the counter, concealed it under her belongings, and left without paying. She was arrested when she returned the next day.

Lynda claimed she had left the item at the checkout counter, but store employees reviewed security footage and confirmed that she had not returned it. She later explained that she had been in a hurry and dropped it on the floor. She was released on bail on Jan. 6.

Prior to the incident, Lynda led a low-profile life in the U.S., frequently traveling for her shows while recently focusing on the food business.

Lynda, 57, was born in Hue, Vietnam, and moved to the U.S. with her family in the 1970s. Known for her dynamic stage presence, she was often compared to Madonna. She is married to Vietnamese-born singer Tommy Ngo.
