The estranged wife of Newcastle United and England defender Kieran Trippier was reportedly forced to alert the police after burglars tried to break into her £2million mansion. It's alleged that the intruders attempted to gain entry by ramming a vehicle into the electronic security gates of her home, before trying to force them open with tools, as reported by The Sun. Charlotte Trippier, who separated from Kieran last year, shares three children with the 35-year-old footballer.
Cheshire Police confirmed they were investigating 'suspicious activity' at Charlotte's mansion, located in an upscale area of the county. According to the report, officers are reviewing CCTV footage from neighbouring properties to identify any suspicious individuals lurking in the vicinity.
A spokesperson for the police stated: "We have received a report of suspicious activity at an address and are making enquiries to establish the circumstances."
Charlotte is said to have been left petrified by the attempted burglary and has since bolstered her home security.
Earlier this year, after moving out of their shared North East home, she provided an update on her wellbeing via social media.
In her video message, she stated: "Obviously I'm not ready to talk about my situation. In time I will, when I'm comfortable and the time is right."
She added: "Also, I have three young children so I don't want to put things out there for them to see.
"It's not that bad," she reassured her followers who might be experiencing a similar situation. "The sparkle does come back... you'll get there."
Trippier, meanwhile, is currently in his third full season at Newcastle having transferred from Atletico Madrid in 2022.
He has been a pivotal player under Eddie Howe in recent years. His playing time has been reduced of late, but injuries to first-choice full-backs Lewis Hall and Tino Livramento have seen his minutes increase again.
This season, Trippier has started seven matches, two of which were in the Champions League, but he was not selected for the England squad this month.
Trippier is now in the final year of the three-and-a-half-year contract he signed when he joined, and it remains uncertain what his future holds.
