On World Standards Day, the Chief Minister administered the quality oath, said – transparency, consumer rights and innovation are paramount in every field.

Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai participated in the Manak Mahotsav organized on the occasion of World Standards Day.

Chhattisgarh News: Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai said that adherence to standards in every sphere of life is essential for transparency, quality and protection of consumer rights. He said that the interests of consumers are being protected by providing standard marks to the goods by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and through this, the trade of adulteration and counterfeit goods has been effectively banned. Chief Minister Sai was addressing the Manak Mahotsav organized on the occasion of World Standards Day at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium in the capital Raipur today. During this, he administered the quality oath to the people present and called upon them to promote standardized products and participate in the efforts of BIS.

During the program, the Chief Minister honored the standards clubs, institutions and mentors who have made special contribution in setting the standards. Praising the work of Bureau of Indian Standards, he said that this institution is playing an important role in developing the culture of quality across the country. Chief Minister Sai said that there was a time when it was difficult to ascertain the purity of metals like gold, but today every consumer buys jewelery only after seeing the BIS hallmark. The hallmark of BIS has now become a symbol of consumer trust. He said that BIS has provided standard marks to about 22 thousand items ranging from bottled water, helmets, toys, jewellery, etc. The Chief Minister said that it is very important to increase awareness about standard marks among consumers, so that quality products can be promoted.

The Chief Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, India is moving towards becoming the third largest economy in the world and standards will play an important role in achieving this goal. He said that due to the quality and standardization of indigenous products, today the products made in villages and towns of the country are gaining recognition in the international market. Chief Minister Sai called upon the people present to increase public awareness about standard marks and said that “the resolve of developed India will be fulfilled only by strengthening consumer rights.” He said that quality is the real identity of self-reliant India. In the program, Food Minister Dayaldas Baghel said that the objective of World Standards Day is to increase awareness about standardization among consumers and society. It is also an opportunity to appreciate the efforts of our scientists and technical experts. He said that the country is developing rapidly and quality improvement has now become not just a policy but a resolution.

Baghel said that the message of “Jaago Grahak Jaago” inspires consumers to remain alert and aware. He urged the participants to forward the knowledge gained from this workshop in the society, so that consumer protection can become more powerful. Director of Bureau of Indian Standards Raipur Branch Office S. Of. Gupta said that every standard of BIS is dedicated to protecting consumer rights. He said that ensuring the quality of the product is our top priority and the Bureau is continuously working in this direction. Gupta gave detailed information about the activities conducted by the Bureau and the process of standardization of various products. He said that the objective of BIS is to ensure that every product manufactured in the country meets global quality standards.

Chief Minister visited various stalls in Manak Mahotsav

Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai visited various stalls set up by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and other institutions at the Standards Mahotsav organized on the occasion of World Standards Day. He took information about the activities and functioning of institutions to standard setting and appreciated their efforts. Representatives of CIPET Raipur told the Chief Minister that the organization provides short and long term skill training to the youth of the state, and also provides quality consultancy and technical advice to the industries. The Chief Minister appreciated the initiative of CIPET and described it as an excellent example of industry-academia coordination. Information about consumer awareness activities was given in the stall set up by Raipur branch of BIS. Representatives said that through BIS Care App, consumers can themselves check the authenticity of ISI, HUID and Hallmarked jewellery. Facility to lodge complaints to product quality and report misuse of ISI seal is also available through the app. The Chief Minister described this initiative as a major achievement in the direction of consumer empowerment.

Innovative stalls of educational institutions become center of attraction

The innovation based stalls set up by school students became the center of everyone’s attraction in the Manak Mahotsav. Chief Minister Sai observed the innovations displayed by the students and appreciated their creative efforts. Students of Government Higher Secondary School, Birkoni prepared a machine to check blood pressure and a machine to measure soil moisture. Pandit R. Students of D. Tiwari Government English Medium School presented “Explorer Robot”, which is capable of finding the way in dark and inaccessible places. This robot can prove useful in mines and industrial sites. The students of Government Higher Secondary School, Anda, prepared a model of smart train, which is especially useful for the disabled people. Chief Minister Sai discussed with the students, took information about their innovative works and praised their creativity and said, “When quality and innovation are combined in the thinking of the youth, only then India moves rapidly towards becoming a developed nation.”

Chief Minister Sai said that quality is not limited only to industry or production, but it should become a culture of every aspect of life. He said that “Standards are not just rules, they are the backbone of nation building.” The Chief Minister called upon officials, institutions and students to “put quality before quantity” and make Chhattisgarh a leading state in the country in standardization, innovation and transparency. He said, “When every citizen considers quality as his religion, only then will the dream of a truly developed India come true.” On this occasion, NIT Raipur Director N. Wh. Ramanna Rao, Chamber of Commerce President Satish Thorani, Steel Authority Executive Director A. Of. Chakraborty, CAT President Parmanand Jain, Chhattisgarh Steel Rerollers Manufacturers Association President Sanjay Tripathi and Chhattisgarh Jewelers Association President Kamal Soni were present.
