Uttarakhand: Under Operation Kalenami, which is being conducted against those people who are playing with the sentiments of the people under the guise of religion and duping them of money by luring them to solve their problems on the basis of miracles and divine powers, the Kotwali police team has arrested two fake/disguised babas roaming at different places, who were calling themselves Miraculous Baba among the public and were showing miracles and pretending to be the incarnation of God. They were trying to cheat people in the name of curing diseases etc. through tantra/mantras. Due to the above two Babas not giving satisfactory answers during the on-spot interrogation, they were taken into custody from the spot and brought to the police station for detailed interrogation. Police is taking further action.

What is “Operation Kalnemi”?

Operation Kalanemi is a campaign launched by the Government of Uttarakhand to identify and take action against individuals who use religion or religious garb to defraud people, violate faith, or spread confusion in society.

The name of this campaign “Kaalnemi” has been taken from the demon of Ramayana who tries to mislead people by disguised as a saint. This metaphor has been used to show that some people practice hypocrisy under the guise of a sage or a saint.
