This makeup feature allows users to apply virtual foundation, blush and lipstick. This filter remains natural and stable on the face even when users move or drink coffee. This feature is currently being rolled out for Google Meet on both mobile devices and the web. The rollout of this new feature has been started from October 8 and the feature will be available in all supported accounts in the next 15 days.

The makeup feature will be turned off by system default and Google Meet users will be able to turn on this filter by going to Google Meet’s settings for Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Essentials, Enterprise Starter, Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Plus, Education Plus, Google One and Google Workspace will be available for users using individual accounts.

Google Meet’s new AI-based makeup effects are going to be especially popular with users who use the platform with their work accounts. This feature will be beneficial for users who are not camera-ready and thus keep their camera off during their meetings. Google launched two portrait touch-up modes on mobile devices in October 2023. This feature was also extended to Google Meet Web in March last year.

Features like filters and facial enhancements are readily available on video-sharing platforms like TikTok, Snapchat, and Instagram. Google Meet’s rival platforms like Zoom and Microsoft Teams have also been offering beautification features like skin smoothing and virtual makeup for a long time.
