It’s Diwali season, and everyone is waiting for the most exclusive, most expensive and designer suit to come out of their wardrobe. But often when we take it out to wear on a festival day, our heart sinks a bit. Somewhere there was a slight smell of a closed cupboard, somewhere there were faint wrinkles, and somewhere there was a tiny stain from last year’s party!

Now running to the dry cleaner for every little thing means wastage of both time and money. So does this mean we should just wear that dull suit? no way!

The cure for your biggest tension is hidden in your home itself. So, today we will tell you those 7 easy home remedies by which you can make your expensive dress shine at home and make it look like new.

1. Can expensive suits really be washed at home?

yes of course! Just remember one golden rule-Never submerge the entire suit in water! For delicate fabrics like silk, georgette, ‘spot cleaning’ and ‘steaming’ are your best friends.
An important warning: Be sure to read the tag on the suit. if on that “Dry Clean Only” As it is written, don’t try to be a hero at home!

2. Complete removal of stubborn stains in just 5 minutes

If there is a stain on the suit, do not worry. Clean only the stained area:

  • Mix baby shampoo or any mild detergent (just a few drops) in a bowl of cold water.
  • Dip a soft cloth in it and gently pat it only on the stain. Rubbing is prohibited!
  • Now wipe it with a clean wet cloth and dry it by pressing it with a dry towel.
  • Remedies for oily stains: If the stain is of oil or ghee, sprinkle some talcum powder or cornstarch on it. Brush with brush after 30 minutes, the stain will have disappeared!

3. Say goodbye to stale cupboard smells

If there is a foul smell coming from the suit, then do not dry it in direct sunlight, it may cause the color of the cloth to fade. Hang it in the open air in the shade for a few hours.

  • A professional’s secret: Mix half vodka and half water in a spray bottle. Spray it lightly on the suit. As soon as the vodka evaporates, it will take away all the bad smell with it!

4. Make a suit look like new without washing it!

The best way to make a suit look instantly fresh and wrinkle-free is to steam it.

  • Easy Jugaad: Run a hot shower in the bathroom and close the door. Once the bathroom is well steamed, hang the suit on a hanger inside for 15 minutes. All wrinkles and odors will disappear with the steam.

5. What to do with dust and fibres?

For light dust or fibers on the suit, take a soft garment brush and brush gently from top to bottom. All the dirt will be cleaned without damaging the fabric.

6. Keep the suit in such a way that it remains as new till next Diwali.

  • Say ‘NO’ to plastic covers! Always hang the suit on a wooden hanger and keep it in a cotton or net ‘breathable’ cover. The plastic cover creates moisture, which can lead to fungus.
  • Keep silica gel sachets or cedar wood pieces in the cupboard. They absorb moisture and keep insects away.

7. Correct way to press (so that the cloth does not burn)

on expensive suits Never apply iron directly! Always place a thin cotton cloth between the suit and the hot iron. This will never burn your delicate clothes and will not leave any strange shine on it.

So this Diwali, save money on dry cleaning and make your favorite suit shine like new at home with these easy methods!
