New Delhi: The Modi government has taken a major decision that promises to give a massive relief to the Central government employees. As per the new decision there will be no delay in receiving pensions and retirement benefits after retirement. For this the government has issued new comprehensive guidelines. The objective is to ensure that no employee has to wait for months to receive their pension or Pension Payment Order (PPO). Here are some of the key details: The new guidelines have been issued by the Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare (DoPPW). All ministries and government departments have been instructed to ensure that the PPO is issued before an employee’s retirement. The government has directed all departments to digitize employees’ service records. Every employee’s record will be available online on the e-HRMS system which will make the pension process faster and more transparent. Every department will have a designated ‘Pension Mitra’ or ‘Welfare Officer’. These officers will assist retiring employees in filling out forms preparing documents and submitting pension applications. In the event of an employee’s death these officers will also help the family with the process of applying for family pension. The absence of vigilance clearance will no longer delay pension issuance. Mandatory use of Bhavishya Portal According to the reports the Modi government has asked all ministries to integrate with the ‘Bhavishya Portal’. This portal will enable real-time monitoring of pension cases and ensure that the Pension Payment Order (PPO) is issued at least two months before retirement. Additionally a monitoring system has been set up to oversee pension-related matters. Each ministry will have a nodal inspection committee while a High-Level Oversight Committee (HLOC) will review all pending cases every two months.
