Scam Call Alert: Phone scams have become a major problem these days. Calls keep coming, and people fall for them. These calls not only waste time but can also steal your money and personal information. When you receive a call, the caller ID gives you some information about the caller. If the call is coming from a number in your contact list, it's usually safe to answer. However, be careful, as scammers can imitate the numbers of people you know. They can use your local area code to make it appear as if the call is coming from nearby. Therefore, always be vigilant. Calls from such numbers can drain your bank or UPI account. Therefore, think twice before receiving them.

If you receive a call, be sure to check the labels.
PCMag reports that some calls display different labels on your phone, such as No Caller ID, Telemarketing, Scam Likely, or Unknown Caller. It's important to understand their meaning. You should be alert whenever you receive calls from such numbers to avoid being scammed.

Telemarketing and Scam Calls
Calls labeled as telemarketing or scam-like should be avoided. These calls are often for sales or fraud. There's no need to answer them. Ignoring them will save both your time and money.

No Caller ID and Unknown Callers
No caller ID means the caller has concealed their identity. This could be for personal reasons, but scammers often do this. An unknown caller means there's no name associated with the number. This could be a new number, a network error, or the work of a scammer. Exercise caution before answering such calls.

Letting Calls Go to Voicemail
Let calls from unknown numbers go to voicemail. If the call is genuine, the caller will leave a message. You can listen to the message and decide whether to return the call or block the number. Don't leave a greeting message on your voicemail to prevent scammers from knowing the number is from someone. Your phone has the option to silence or block unknown callers. Turn it on so that calls from unknown numbers go directly to voicemail.

Check the Number
If you hear something urgent in your voicemail, don't call immediately. First, search the number online. Often, a search reveals that the number is linked to a scam. If the caller claims to be someone you know, call from a number saved in your phone.
