Let us tell about it.
What is a vein block?
When the flow of blood (signal) in a vein (blood vessel or nerve) stops, it is usually called "vein block". If the blockage is in the arteries/veins carrying blood then it is called blood vessel blockage and if the blockage is due to stoppage of signals in the nerves then it is called nerve blockage. Symptoms, causes and treatment of both may be different.
1. Blood vessel blockage
If there is blockage in the blood veins then such symptoms may appear. Numbness or coldness in hands and feet Pain in legs when walking (Claudication) Skin color becoming pale or blue Wounds healing late Sudden chest pain or difficulty in breathing (due to heart or lung vein blockage)
Due to blood vessel blockage
Cholesterol accumulation in veins (atherosclerosis), high blood pressure, diabetes, smoking, obesity and lack of exercise.
What is its treatment?
Medicines: Medicines to thin the blood, medicines to reduce cholesterol are given. Lifestyle: Diet control, exercise, quitting smoking Surgery: Angioplasty or Bypass Surgery (in severe cases)
2. Due to nerve blockage (signal stoppage or pressure)
When nerve blockages occur, tingling, numbness, burning, or prickling may occur. Weakness is felt in the muscles. Difficulty in walking, loss of sensation in hands and legs
due to this
Slip disc or spinal cord pressure injury. Diabetic Neuropathy (nerve damage due to sugar). Vitamin B12 deficiency. Sitting/sleeping in one position continuously.
Treatment
Medicines: Medicines to reduce pain and swelling, vitamin B12 supplements can be given. Physiotherapy: May be prescribed to reduce pressure on the nerves. Surgery: If there is permanent pressure on the vein. Lifestyle changes: correct sitting and standing habits, regular exercise
Note: If your hands and legs suddenly become numb, you have difficulty speaking, your face becomes crooked. This may be a sign of stroke, see a doctor immediately. To find out the exact cause of the blockage, Doppler ultrasound, MRI, CT scan or blood tests are done. Keep lifestyle healthy. Eat green vegetables, green tea, nuts etc. Stay away from flour, fried food, excess salt and sugar. Increase physical activity. Use more garlic and ginger. Boil garlic cloves in milk and drink it. This removes all the dirt from the veins. Use olive oil. Massage the nerves.
