Many actors once dominated the screen only to suddenly fade into obscurity after a few years. Shweta Basu Prasads journey was similar. Her explosive debut as a child artist won everyones hearts. This talented actress who won a National Award at the age of 11 later faced a period of struggle due to a controversial case and personal struggles. But even during this difficult journey she refused to give up and surprised everyone with a strong comeback. Identification with Spider Shweta Basu Prasad made her Bollywood debut in 2002 with Vishal Bhardwajs film Makdee. She was arrested from a five-star hotel in Hyderabad in connection with a sex racket. The media generated widespread publicity linking her to prostitution. Allegations were leveled that she had become involved in this activity due to financial constraints. However with the arrest of the mastermind behind the case all charges against Shweta were later dismissed. She herself clarified that she had never been involved in such activities and that the allegations were false. She was only 23 years old at the time and served some time in jail as a result of the controversy. Personal Life and New Beginnings This controversy dealt a severe blow to Shwetas career. Yet she refused to give up. In 2018 she married film producer Rohit Mittal but the relationship didnt last long and they separated in 2019. Even after the divorce the two remain friendly as Shweta openly shared on social media. Preparing for a Return After a period of controversy and personal struggles Shweta Basu Prasad has now revived her career. She is active on OTT platforms and has made her mark in projects like Tribhuvan Mishra: CA Topper and India Lockdown. Her performance has received critical acclaim indicating that she is poised to make a name for herself once again. She was recently seen in the new season of Criminal Justice which marks a new beginning for her career.
