'Khal Nayak' sequel coming; Sanjay Dutt to reprise iconic role

Filmmaker Subhash Ghai has confirmed that a sequel to his 1993 hit Khal Nayak is in the works!
The rights for the film have been sold to a leading production house, which will also oversee its expansion into a cinematic universe.
However, Ghai clarified that he won't be directing the second part due to his age.

Ghai told Mid-Day, "I'm not directing it as I'm 80 years old. I can guide them creatively."
He added that Sanjay Dutt will reprise his role as Ballu in the sequel, which will also feature new, younger characters.
The sequel is being planned in Hindi and other languages, just like its predecessors, which were remade in Telugu, Tamil, and Punjabi after Khal Nayak's success.

The sequel is not just going to be a standalone film but will also serve as the first part of a larger cinematic universe.
A source said, "It will include stories of heroic antagonists like Ballu, who was a victim of his situation."
The details about the production house and the release date are yet to be announced.

Ghai also revealed that the sequel will include the original songs from Khal Nayak, including the iconic Choli Ke Peeche Kya Hai.
He said, "As the rights include script, characters, plot, story, title, dialogues and music for the sequel, Khal Nayak's songs can be used in the second part if they want."
"The studio making the sequel will make an announcement on October 21."
The film also starred Madhuri Dixit and Jackie Shroff.
