The death of 3 young cricketers in the ongoing military conflict between Pakistan and Afghanistan has shaken everyone. Three cricketers from an Afghan club were killed in an airstrike by the Pakistani Army, which has further inflamed the tension between the two countries. After this incident, the Afghanistan Cricket Board refused to play in the T20 series against Pakistan. In this matter, the Board of Control for Cricket in India has also stood in support of Afghanistan and slammed Pakistan calling this action cowardly. International Cricket Council Chairperson Jay Shah also expressed grief over the death of these cricketers and condemned the attack.
The conflict between Afghanistan and Pakistan has been going on for the last several days. Meanwhile, on the night of Friday 17 October, Pakistani Air Force carried out air strikes in Paktika province of Afghanistan. Pakistani Air Force crossed all limits and targeted residential areas, in which some club cricketers also got hit. Afghanistan Cricket Board said in a statement that three young players of the local club – Qarib Agha, Haroon and Sibgatullah were killed in the attack, while some others were injured.
This incident has shocked the entire cricket world and Pakistan is being criticized everywhere for killing cricketers. For the first time, a statement has been issued by ICC on this incident. ICC Chairperson Jay Shah, in a social media post, has called Pakistan's action stupid without taking its name. Shah wrote in his post, "Deeply saddened by the death of three Afghan cricketers, Kabir Aga, Sibgatullah and Haroon, whose dreams could not be fulfilled due to a senseless violence. The killing of such talented players is a tragedy not only for Afghanistan cricket but for the entire cricket world. We all stand with the Afghanistan Cricket Board in this time of tragedy."

The Indian Cricket Board issued a long statement and expressed grief over the incident and described the Pakistani attack as a cowardly act. A statement issued by board secretary Devjit Saikia condemned the incident, saying, “BCCI expresses its deep sorrow and condolences on the death of three young Afghan cricketers – Kabir Aga, Sibgatullah and Haroon – in the cowardly air strike in Paktika province.”
