Despite the scandal surrounding Prince Andrew for many years, most of the Royal Family have never commented publicly on his fall from grace - except Prince Harry.
Known to be candid about his opinions on the state of affairs with his royal relatives and the ways in which he feels he and his wife, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, have been mistreated by the monarchy. Harry revealed that he was pretty rankled when his disgraced uncle was allowed to keep trappings of royal life that had been unceremoniously stripped from Harry and Meghan.
In 2022, when a civil case in the US brought by accuser Virginia Giuffre was given the go-ahead against Andrew, the late Queen stripped him of his royal patronages, honorary military positions, and his police security. However, Queen Elizabeth also reportedly funded his security privately, a practice that King Charles allegedly stopped in 2024. Andrew has vehemently denied the accusations made against him.
When Prince Harry and Meghan stepped back as working royals, they initially hoped to still represent the crown on a part-time basis, but the idea was swiftly dismissed. Instead, whilst the family were in Canada and borders were closing in quick succession in an attempt to slow the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, their taxpayer-funded security was taken away - leaving them feeling like sitting ducks.

Prince Andrew, on the other hand, though he quit official royal duties in 2019, maintained his, all the way until 2022.
Harry has fought fiercely to have his security reinstated when he visits the UK, arguing that private companies he can hire to protect him and his family don't have access to the full intelligence or have the proper jurisdiction to keep the Sussexes safe. He has also argued many times that the threat against him, his wife, and their two children has not gone away, simply because he is no longer a working royal.
At the moment, Harry receives a "bespoke" security arrangement from the police, with the Home Office deciding on a case-by-case basis if they will provide security for him.
Over an agonising multi-year legal challenge in the courts, Harry wanted automatic protection returned to him - but ultimately failed.
The security was so important to him, that he even admitted this year King Charles was not speaking to him over the issue, but he kept the legal challenge going anyway.
In his memoir Spare, he pointed out what he believed to be hypocrisy in the way he and Meghan were treated, compared to his uncle Andrew, who was facing serious allegations, the likes of which neither the Duke and Duchess of Sussex ever had.
"Despite being involved in an embarrassing scandal, accused of having sexually abused a young woman, nobody had suggested removing his security. People may have a lot of grievances towards us, but sexual offences weren't one of them."
Harry wrote that Meghan asked him one night in 2020 if he thought their security would be stripped, and he replied, "Never. Not in this climate of hate. Not after what happened to my mother [ Princess Diana ]. Also, not in the wake of my Uncle Andrew."
