Strictly Come Dancing's Tess Daly has given fans a glimpse into her family life, revealing how she and husband Vernon Kay are keen to instil certain values in their daughters.

Recently returning to our screens alongside co-host Claudia Winkleman for another series of Strictly, Tess took time out from the glitz and glamour to chat with Giovanna Fletcher on her Happy mum Happy Baby podcast.

During the heart-to-heart, Tess shared her parenting philosophy, stating: "I think one of the most important things we can teach them as parents is, find your own way. Find what makes you happy. Find what makes you tick."

She went on to emphasise the importance of hard work and humility, adding: "I wouldn't dream of spoiling my kids. I do not want spoilt brats. I want humble, good girls who are grateful, who are kind. You know, my idea of hell would be having entitled children — that's the worst thing. It's not good for them, it's not good for you."

Tess and Vernon's love story began over two decades ago when they were challenged to choreograph their own dance routine to Britney Spears' ...Baby One More Time at a BBC Christmas party.

In the years that followed, love blossomed between the couple as they exchanged vows and soon welcomed their first child together, Phoebe, born in 2004. Their youngest, Amber, arrived in 2009.

Besides raising her two daughters with Vernon, Tess has been a constant presence on our television for decades.

Although she initially started her career as a model, she is most recognised for her stint on Strictly Come Dancing, having co-hosted the BBC show since its inception in 2004 while she was expecting her first daughter.

Initially, she co-hosted the dance show alongside Sir Bruce Forsyth, but Claudia Winkleman joined her on the show in 2014 after Sir Bruce decided to step back from the programme.

Recently, she made her comeback to the show, as Strictly celebrates its 23rd series since it first aired in 2004.

Last weekend's show saw Scottish presenter Ross King eliminated from the competition alongside professional dancer Jowita Przytal. Their time in the competition came to an end after they finished second best in the dance-off, as they went up against Balvinder Sopal and her partner Julian Caillon.

Strictly Come Dancing is set to return this evening (18 October) at 6.30 p.m. on BBC One.
