Aldi has recalled two products after milk and allergens including gluten weren't declared on labelling. The supermarket giant is recalling 360g Ashfields 30 Day Matured Thin Cut Beef Steaks with a use by date of October 26.

This is because it contains milk which isn't mentioned on the label, according to the Food Standards Agency (FSA). It said this means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or lactose.

In its alert issued on Saturday (October 18), the FSA said this was due to a packaging error. The agency is advising anyone with such an allergy or intolerance who bought the product not to eat it.

A second recall alert issued on the same day applies to PYB02 PANATAS Part-Baked 6 pack custard tarts. The FSA said this is because they contain egg, milk and wheat as well as possibly containing hazelnuts, sesame and soya. None of these are mentioned on the label.

The FSA said: "This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to egg, and/or an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents, and/or an allergy to nuts and/or an allergy to sesame and/or an allergy to soya, and/or an allergy or intolerance to wheat or gluten, or for anyone with coeliac disease."

Aldi has contacted allergy support organisations to tell their members about the recall, according to the FSA. Again, anyone who has bought the product with the relevant allergy or intolerance is being urged not to eat it.

The FSA said customers who bought either or both of the recalled products should return them to the shop where they were purchased from for a full refund.

Aldi's recalls on Saturday come days after the same German retailer pulled 500ml Gianni's Cheeky Monkey Ice Cream because it contains wheat which isn't mentioned on the label.

In another alert, the FSA said the product contains gluten making it a possible health risk for anyone with coeliac disease and/or an allergy or intolerance to wheat or gluten.

The retailer should display notices in all the Aldi branches which sell the recalled products, explaining why they've been recalled and with instructions on what to do if they purchased the products.
