BJP MP Nishikant Dubey Warns: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Nishikant Dubey created a stir in political circles by giving a big statement on 18 July 2025. He said that if the 2029 Lok Sabha elections are fought without Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP will be reduced to just 150 seats.

This statement has come in response to the statement of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat, in which he had said that after the age of 75, leaders should retire and give a chance to the youth.

Dubey, MP from Godda, Jharkhand, said in the news agency that 'Modi does not need BJP, BJP needs him. For the next 15-20 years, I see only Modi as the leader of the country. This statement is being considered as a direct attack on the '75 years of age' rule of RSS, because both Modi and Bhagwat will turn 75 in 2026.

'Modi is the basis of BJP'

Dubey claimed that after coming to power in 2014, Modi gave BJP a vote bank of the poor section which was never with the party before. He said, 'Because of Modi the poor class joined BJP. Today he is PM for the third time. If he is not our leader in 2029, BJP will not be able to win even 150 seats. BJP had won 240 seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, and Dubey's statement underlines the importance of Modi for the party.

'The rule of 75 years does not apply to Modi'

RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat's recent statement, in which he talked about retirement at the age of 75, was linked by the opposition to Modi. Responding to this, Dubey said that this rule does not apply to Modi. He cited former PM Morarji Desai, who became prime minister at the age of 82. Dubey said, 'To fulfill the dream of a developed India by 2047, as long as Modi is healthy, he will have to lead.'

Question on Yogi Adityanath, clear answer

When Dubey was asked about the possible role of UP CM Yogi Adityanath in Delhi, he bluntly said, 'At present there is no place for Yogi in Delhi.' This statement is also important because Yogi has been seen as the future leadership of BJP.

'Indira made a mistake by creating Bangladesh'

Dubey gave another controversial statement saying that former PM Indira Gandhi had made a mistake by creating Bangladesh in 1971. He said, 'They should have created Hindu and Muslim Bangladesh. Even today some people are paying the price of this mistake.' This statement can spark a new debate in political circles.

Why was there an uproar?

Dubey's statement is fueling the ongoing speculation regarding leadership between RSS and BJP. Bhagwat's '75 years old' statement raises a big question for BJP, because Modi will turn 75 in 2026. In such a situation, Dubey's statement is not only a reply to RSS, but also gives a message to BJP workers and supporters that Modi is the biggest strength of the party.

This statement of Dubey can spark a big debate about the future of BJP. The question is whether Modi will remain the face of BJP in 2029 also, or will the party look for new leadership under the rule of RSS? At present, Dubey has made it clear that the path to BJP's victory passes only through Modi. Will BJP be able to achieve a big victory in 2029 without Modi, or will Dubey's fears become reality? This question is now gaining momentum in political circles.
