Jigna Shah on Sanjeev Kumar friends: Bollywood’s great actor Sanjeev Kumar was known for his simple and heart touching acting. On the big screen, he played his characters as if they were actually the same person. But at the age of only 47, he said goodbye to this world. Now, many years after his death, his niece Jigna Shah has made such revelations in an interview, which shocked everyone. Jigna told how Sanjeev Kumar’s close friends turned their backs on him during his bad times. Even when the actor decided to give up alcohol for his health, many of his friends started distancing themselves from him. Let us know what things Jigna Shah told in this interview.
According to Jigna Shah, Sanjeev Kumar belonged to a traditional Gujarati family, where non-veg food was not liked. But Sanjeev Kumar was fond of both non-veg and alcohol. Due to this hobby, he had bought a separate bungalow in Pali Hill so that he could cook and enjoy non-veg food there comfortably. However, with time, alcohol started having a bad effect on his health and he suffered from heart disease. When his condition worsened he had to undergo surgery. After this, the doctors gave him clear instructions that if he wanted to save his life, he would have to give up alcohol forever. Sanjeev Kumar listened to the doctor and decided to give up alcohol, but what happened to him after this, he had never imagined.
According to Jigna Shah, after the surgery, when Sanjeev Kumar decided to give up alcohol on the advice of doctors, all his friends started distancing themselves from him. He said, “The people who used to sit and drink alcohol with him every evening were the first to disappear. No one came to inquire about their well-being.” This changing behavior hurt the actor deeply, and he was completely broken from within.
Not only this, Jigna Shah also told that Sanjeev Kumar had lent around Rs 1 crore to many of his industry friends, but most of them never returned the money. He said, “Sanjeev Kumar had given money to many friends to help them, but no one returned it. This incident dates back to the 1980s, when such a huge amount of money was considered a big asset.
After the death of Sanjeev Kumar, Boney Kapoor himself came to meet his family and returned Rs 3 lakh. Jigna Shah said, “Boney Kapoor said that he will return the rest of the money also, but this is all I can give for now. No one else has ever returned anything.” This step of his was an example of humanity and honesty, which proved him different from other friends.
