New Delhi: Star Australia cricketer Aaron Finch gave a blunt remark about the future of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. The two experienced Indias stalwart have already retired from T20Is and Tests continuing to play only in ODIs. With just two years remaining until the 2027 ICC ODI World Cup questions about their selection and availability have emerged. These uncertainties have become a key talking point as India take on Australia in a three-match ODI series. Several former cricketers and cricket experts have recommended that both Rohit and Kohli need to play domestic cricket to maintain their form. However Finch disagrees believing that their involvement in domestic matches would not affect their prospects instead it would ultimately depend on the players own willingness. Finch believes playing doemstic cricket wont affect their chances I dont think it necessarily comes down to playing so much domestic cricket. I dont think that would change their chances or the way they approach it at all. The odd game here or there just to make sure that theyre ticking over in a competitive environment said Finch while replying to a Hindustan Times query during a media day ahead of the first ODI. But you know that theyre going to be hitting thousands and thousands of balls behind the scenes away from the cameras. So yeah if the desire is still there and if the performances are there theres no reason why they wont he added. Finch hopes to see both stars feature in 2027 ICC World Cup Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will face a major challenge as they will be 40 and 39 respectively by the time of the 2027 Cricket World Cup. Despite this Finch hopes to see both stars feature in the prestigious tournament. I would love to see them both play in that 50-over World Cup in 2027. Thatll be up to the selectors the coaching staff the captain and their performances. Thats what it comes down to. I think that any time you have the experience that they bring but are also pushed by the next generation of players coming through its really exciting because it keeps the depth of the squad so strong. And no doubt India have got that said Finch. So what are the challenges that they face? Probably just the amount of cricket. No doubt that will have its challenges. But you know that neither of them will leave any stone unturned. If theres a desire for them to both get there and theyve indicated that then you know that theyre going to be hitting enough balls he added.
